Baron Empain: Story of the haunted palace

 History of the palace 

Known as the " Hindu palace" Is a breathtaking historic Indian - inspired mansion in 

( Heliopolis - Cairo - Egypt) it was built in 1911 by the Belgien industrialist (Baron Edouard Louis Joseph Empain)

designed by the great artist and architect ( Alexandre Marcel) .

The palace had a special ,one of the kind tower designed on top of a rotating base that spins 360 degree to show the view around the palace from all sides , and just like fairy tales the Baron lived in the magical mansion with his daughter (Miriam ) and his sister (Baroness Helena ).

 The mansion contained 2 floors with 7 rooms

The first floor : had three rooms , two of them were guest rooms and the third was a Billiards games hall.

The second floor : had four bedrooms each room has its own bathroom.

One of the rooms was known as the "Pink room" or the forbidden room where no one was allowed to enter the room but the Baron himself even his sister and his daughter weren't allowed.

The horrific accident which started it all 

Unfortunately one day while the Baron was rotating the tower towards the south , he heard a loud scream , and that's when he stopped and went to see what happened , and he was shocked to find that his sister had died after falling off her balcony while the tower was moving.

  Ever since the accident the rotating base suddenly stopped working , and the palace was said to be hunted by the angry soul of "Baroness Helena" and it was also said that Baron Empain tried to evoke his sister's soul to ask for forgiveness but she refused to forgive him because he couldn't save her at the right moment . 

Neighbors said that the Baroness spirit shows up at night in her room then she goes into her brother's room .

It was also said that later on his daughter Miriam killed herself in the basement .

The Baron's death 

In July 1929 Baron Empain died after a lot of suffering and depression following the death of his sister and his daughter .

Since then the mansion was abandoned and said to be hunted.

Neighbors said they used to hear the sound of furniture moving at night coming from the mansion , also other paranormal activities such as : 

- lights turning on and off by itself 

- ghosts only show up at night and they don't let anybody enter or stay at the mansion no matter what .

- loud noises and screams of the Baron and his sister coming out of the mansion at night .

In 1997 a group of guys and girls sneaked into the abandoned mansion at night and they made a loud punk party and they played black metal songs and danced all night ,but they've been caught by the police and arrested after being confirmed with doing black magic rituals and satanism inside the mansion . and it's said that this accident was one of the main reasons why the mansion was hunted .

Unexplained accident 

In 1982 something very weird and unexplained happened while people were passing in front of the palace , as heavy smoke was coming out from the window of the main room in the palace and from the window of its main tower, when suddenly the smoke turned into fire for a couple of minutes then it was shut down by itself  , some say that the reason might be the Baron's pink room as it was thought to be hunted.

The palace Nowadays 

The Empain palace after many years of being abandoned was finally restored by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities last year with more than 60 million pounds and it looks great ! and waiting for your visits
