6 Mental disorders ranked the rarest of all time

Mental disorders that rank the creepiest amongst all

Mental disorders are like some computer virus they can be treated under some conditions, but they are totally tough.

Given the fact that most of the patients do not realize that they need assistance; the hard part of getting them to realize that is completely on doctors.

However, here in this blog post, we will tackle some of these rare mental illnesses that might be nightmares for both patients and doctors.

The history of mental disorders

history of mental disorders

The human brain has been a great amuse to doctors as well as scientists since the dawn of time.

Therefore, the history of mental health conditions cannot really go back to a certain period of time.

However, there have been some theories about mental illnesses that we are going to tackle in this blog post. Those theories are:

1) Supernatural theories: which are all about the connection between mental disorders along with the possession of evil spirits like demons.

2) Psychogenic theories: those are more likely to be reliable as they link mental illnesses with experiencing traumatic or stressful events.

3) Somatogenic theories: supporters of these theories are most likely to link mental health conditions with genetic inheritance or brain imbalances.

With all these theories of how mental illness is seen as, we have a mental disorders’ list of the creepiest of all. So, fasten your seat belt and enjoy the ride, Creepers!!!

Cotard Delusion Disorder

brief info about cotard delusion

Cotard delusion causes the patient to suffer from great depression and starvation as they are convinced that they are dead and have rotten bodies.

It is one of the rarest disorders of all time, it all started in 1880 when, Jules Cotard, a neurologist first described it.

They also have the feeling that their bodies are decaying and they have lost their organs and blood… creepy, huh?

Alien Hand Disorder

describing briefly what alien hand disorder is

This creepy, yet rare syndrome is mostly causing one of the patients’ hands to have its own will and do whatever it wants.

Moreover, it can get really serious as you cannot expect what’s next... It might get from ripping clothes to completely choke to death.

The syndrome is more likely to be amongst people with severe Alzheimer or those who had some brain surgery.

Unfortunately, there is no cure to this scary nightmare, but patients are advised to occupy their hands or even let their other hand stop it.

Todd Disorder

what is todd disorder?

Todd syndrome or as it is mostly known as Alice in wonderland syndrome is one of the rarest disorders of all… Thank god!!

Those with the disorder unfortunately live a distorted life as they think they see things not in their real shapes.

They even hear voices whether quieter or louder than they really are which affects their whole image of their surroundings.

However, luckily the disorder is very rare and most of the patients are in their 20s that have brain tumors.

It is more likely for people having a history of drug addiction to have it as well.

Self-cannibalism Disorder

describing the self cannibalism disorder

Patients who have this particular disorder hurt themselves in some creepy and scary way as they eat their own body parts.

There are absolutely degrees of self-cannibalism as it ranges from eating finger nails and hair to even eating their entire body parts.

Fortunately, it is on the rare mental disorders list, but once diagnosed with it you might be at a great risk.

It might also be a result of anxiety or depression and patients diagnosed with it can have more disorders like OCD.

Therefore, it is advised if you have those compulsions of even biting your fingernails, you should absolutely see a specialist.

Dissociative Identity Disorder

dissociative identity disorders and split movie

Those patients who suffer from this mental disorder are most likely to develop more than one identity.

In addition, it is hard to convince them that they have DID, because once the identity is present they act upon it with total neglect for the others.

They unfortunately can stay on one identity for days and even years as they switch randomly without any warnings.

Therefore, patients with this dissociative disorder cannot live normally and usually remain inside psychiatric hospitals.

Remember the movie “split” it is really like that for people with DID.

The impressive thing about that disorder is the patient adapts the identity as a whole from language to even body shape… mind blowing, right?

Reduplicative Amnesia disorder

what it is like to have reduplicative amnesia disorder

People with Reduplicative Amnesia, which is too one of the rarest mental illnesses, have the tendency to believe there are two duplicates of the same location.

They do not just believe there are duplicates of the same location, but they also believe that they both exist at once.

It is also similar in a way with the Capgras syndrome, in which the patient believes a close friend is really an imposter.

However, these kind of delusional misidentification syndromes are most likely to be seen in patients with severe traumas.

Patients with tumors, brain injuries or even with other mental illnesses are most likely to develop it as well.

Other mental health conditions

other mental illnesses within our daily life

There are tons of other conditions as we live in a stressful life and as we all deal with that fact differently there will always be issues.

Knowing that some of these conditions have no direct treatment, makes us freak out a little bit.

However, we should not be freaking out because we have doctors and scientists that will do whatever it takes to keep us well.

Now that we are in the end of our blog post that I hope you enjoyed, let me brag about something great that happened this week.
